About the Organisation

Power Shift Africa (PSA) is a Pan-African climate and energy think-and-do tank established in 2018 to provide policy, advocacy and strategic communications support to different actors from an African perspective. PSA’s mission is to mobilise climate action in Africa, amplify African voices through increased visibility in media and public communications, and leverage African voices in the international climate space.

PSA is committed to working with diverse stakeholders, including African institutions, governments, civil society organisations (CSOs), policymakers, grassroots groups, academia, and media, to champion an Africa-led movement that advances climate finance, adaptation and resilience, and accelerates a just energy transition. PSA combines high-value analysis, strong media presence, strategic partnerships and strong African technical expertise to drive impactful climate policy, advocacy, action, and financing towards low-carbon and resilient pathways.

About the Job

The Project Officer will support PSA’s climate finance and energy workstreams, focusing on research, advocacy, and project coordination to advance a just energy transition in Africa. Reporting to the Climate Finance Associate, the role involves analysing public and climate finance flows, producing policy inputs, and contributing to flagship campaigns such as Don’t Gas Africa, Mission 300, and Adapt2Live. The position also includes coordinating stakeholder engagement and knowledge exchange across PSA’s Pan-African networks, while benefiting from structured mentorship, training, and professional development in climate finance and advocacy.

This role is part of the Climate Finance Fellowship, a 12-month program designed to bridge the talent gap in the climate finance sector. The Fellowship supports mid-career finance professionals who are looking to transition into purpose-driven, climate-focused work—particularly within nonprofit and civil society organizations across the Global South. Fellows are placed within high-impact host organizations, where they take on a core finance or strategy role. In addition to this placement, Fellows join a cohort-based learning journey that includes:

  • Tailored climate and leadership development modules

  • One-on-one coaching and mentorship

  • Peer learning and community exchange

  • Access to professional networks in climate and development

The Fellowship is led by Surge Climate Talent (SCT), with program design and implementation managed by Global Good x Amani, an impact consulting and leadership development firm. Together, SCT and GG x Amani are working to ensure that host organizations are supported, Fellows are set up for success, and the program contributes meaningfully to strengthening the climate finance ecosystem.

This opportunity is especially suited for professionals from the private or public sectors with strong finance experience who may not yet have worked in climate or nonprofit contexts. It is also open to those currently in the nonprofit sector seeking to specialize in climate finance.
