About the Organisation
ONE is a global, nonpartisan organization fighting for a more just world by demanding the investments needed to create economic opportunities and healthier lives in Africa. We do this by deploying trusted and dynamic advocacy that leverages hard-hitting data, credible grassroots activism, creative political engagement, and strategic partnerships. We use all this to influence decision-makers to take action and tackle the world’s biggest challenges.
About the Job
About ONE Data
ONE Data is an initiative of The ONE Campaign focused on transforming how public finance and development data is accessed and used. Our vision is a world where information asymmetries are collapsed and high-quality, evidence-based decisions lead to greater economic opportunity and healthier lives.
Our mission is to organise the world’s public finance and development data and make it universally accessible and useful - collapsing the time from raw data to actionable insight. By building open, interoperable data infrastructure and intuitive analytical tools, ONE Data strengthens transparency, accountability, and more effective investment in development.
In a system where data is fragmented, delayed, and difficult to interpret, ONE Data integrates disparate sources into trusted, policy-relevant insights that empower decision-makers, advocates, journalists, researchers, and partners globally.
About the Opportunity
The Senior Product Manager will lead the strategy, development, and ongoing improvement of ONE Data’s digital products and platforms, ensuring they effectively meet user needs while supporting the organisation’s broader goals. Working across engineering, design, data science, policy, and partnerships teams, the role translates product vision into clear requirements and delivery plans, manages the product lifecycle from concept to launch, and prioritises features based on user insight. Key responsibilities include overseeing the roadmap for the Development Finance Observatory, shaping data exploration and AI-assisted research tools, coordinating external partners, and establishing feedback mechanisms to guide continuous product development and platform evolution.
Key Responsibilities
Product strategy and delivery
Establish and maintain product development processes, including roadmapping, backlog management, sprint planning, and retrospectives, across a distributed team of internal staff and external partners.
Translate strategy into requirements, user stories, and release plans, managing build cycles.
Conduct user research with target audiences (researchers, advocates, policymakers, journalists) and build ongoing feedback mechanisms that inform product iteration.
Stakeholder engagement and communication
Communicate product plans, progress, and trade-offs to senior leadership, funders (including Google.org and The Rockefeller Foundation), and external partners.
Collaborate across data, policy, partnerships, and communications teams to align on product needs.
Coordinate with standards bodies and data producers (OECD, IATI, World Bank) to ensure products complement existing infrastructure and align with sector expectations.
Support partner engagement for organisations building on ONE Data's infrastructure.
Create a culture of innovation and continuous improvement, especially in discovery and delivery methodologies.
Requirements
Experience
6+ years of product management or a closely related role in software, data, or digital product environments.
Demonstrated success taking products from concept through launch and iteration, ideally public-facing, open-source, or data-intensive products.
Experience managing complex builds involving multiple external partners or vendors.
Experience conducting user research, synthesising insights, and building product requirements grounded in real user needs.
Comfort working alongside engineering teams building data products. You don't need to write code, but you need to be fluent enough in technical concepts (data models, APIs, infrastructure trade-offs) to manage product development processes alongside engineers and data scientists, and translate between technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Strong understanding and experience of agile methodologies and prioritisation frameworks.
Preferred
Experience with development, global health, climate, or public finance data.
Familiarity with AI/LLM product features, conversational interfaces, or agentic workflows.
Familiarity with knowledge graphs, semantic data models, or platforms like Google Data Commons.
Experience with platform or ecosystem products, including APIs, developer tools, or infrastructure that others build on.
Experience working with NGOs, policy organisations, or public-interest data platforms.
