Reflecting on 2024 – Action Appointments Development Recruitment

Lisa Garson – Executive Director

“This has been an interesting year for me at Action Appointments. It was my first real sabbatical after 30 years in the business and gave me a chance to take a step back and watch the younger generation step into more senior roles. It was very heartwarming and rewarding to see how all our staff have developed the ability to provide a quality service without me breathing over their shoulders. It has given me license to play more of a guiding role in the business and focus more on the coaching side from next year.”

Tracy Nyman – Director: Recruitment and Operations

“Recruitment is a fulfilling and impactful job that is never completed.

You can always do more, but you need to accept that you can’t do everything.

That is why there is no I in TEAM.

Thank you to a great supportive team and I look forward to a fruitful 2025😊”

Melissa Asia – Recruitment and Marketing Manager

“Highlight of the year was assisting IREX/ACLFP with successful placements in Tanzania, Kenya and South Africa. It can be a real challenge but always interesting to work with candidates from different countries and getting to learn their cultures. Also currently assisting with the recruitment in Malaysia and Bangkok.

Very proud of the 38 successful placements I’ve made in 2024 (out of 112 placements as a team!)

Recruitment within the NGO/Development space is very fulfilling”

Callum Fraser – Director: Partnerships and Systems

“We have had another amazing year of introducing Action Appointments to the global stage.

We have realised that what we have been building as an affordable but expert and reliable service provider in the NGO space in Africa is something that the whole world has interest in. We can’t wait to keep growing our international partnership portfolio, having placed candidates in Indonesia, Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Italy, the United Kingdom and many more countries this year.

Also very exciting has been the continuation of our collaborations in just transition, climate activism and environmental justice. This sector needs to continue to grow in order to protect our planet for future generations.

A huge thanks to the driven AA team as we have all proved ourselves to be capable of delivering at a competitive level for any NGO position on the planet.”

Baxolele Mbenyana – Recruitment Officer

“The highlight of 2024 was my promotion to Recruitment Officer, a role that brought increased responsibilities and challenges. I’m proud to have navigated these successfully while gaining valuable knowledge and skills. This year, I also broadened my recruitment experience, successfully managing multiple placements across South Africa, Nigeria and Kenya.”

Zintle Nyathi – Admin Assistant

“The year 2024 has been an incredibly rewarding and insightful year for me, particularly in the field of recruitment. I have had the opportunity to delve deeply into the recruitment process, gaining both detailed knowledge and practical experience. Interacting with a diverse range of candidates has been enriching, as each interaction brought unique perspectives and learning opportunities.”

Afikile Zozo – Admin Assistant

“In 2024, I experienced tremendous personal growth and development, sharpening my recruitment expertise and people engagement skills within the development sector. It’s been a rewarding year of learning and contributing meaningfully to Action Appointments' work in strengthening organizations through impactful recruitment solutions”

Oona Fraser – Candidate Recruiter
