About the Organisation
Enzi Ijayo is a Pan African think and do tank that convenes academia, private sector, civil society and governments to analyze and formulate policies for growing investments in green energy solutions that provide a sustainable path towards greening Africa's economic development. It seeks to leverage its solid networks on the continent to provide actionable outcomes.
The initiative’s focus is inherently directed towards shaping a better tomorrow for African citizens, particularly in energy and developmental outcomes. Enzi Ijayo leverages energy as a foundational entry point for discussions on socio-economic development. Accordingly, our mission is to advance energy policy and solutions at global, regional, and national levels that centre and reflect the realities and needs of the African people.
About the Job
Energy transformation in Africa necessitates a multifaceted approach that not only focuses on sustainable energy adoption but also encompasses equitable access, increased financing, socio- economic development, and resilience-building in the face of climate change impacts. Our work on finance focuses on enhancing access to affordable and sustainable energy across society, including individuals, governments and the private sector.
Enzi Ijayo seeks to bring on a Climate Finance Advisor to support our work on energy transformation. The candidate will support our existing and new work-streams related to enhancing access to and reforming models of climate finance in Africa, particularly for renewable energy. The role is suited to a mid-level career candidate with a passion for Pan-African thought and engagement. The candidate will work closely with all members of the Enzi Ijayo team, primarily the team lead on economics and policy. Candidates should be Africa based, with a preference for individuals located in Nairobi who can work on a hybrid basis.
This role is part of the Climate Finance Fellowship, a 12-month program designed to bridge the talent gap in the climate finance sector. The Fellowship supports mid-career finance professionals who are looking to transition into purpose-driven, climate-focused work—particularly within nonprofit and civil society organizations across the Global South. Fellows are placed within high-impact host organizations, where they take on a core finance or strategy role. In addition to this placement, Fellows join a cohort-based learning journey that includes:
Tailored climate and leadership development modules
One-on-one coaching and mentorship
Peer learning and community exchange
Access to professional networks in climate and development
The Fellowship is led by Surge Climate Talent (SCT), with program design and implementation managed by Global Good x Amani (GG x Amani), an impact consulting and leadership development firm. Together, SCT and GG x Amani are working to ensure that host organizations are supported, Fellows are set up for success, and the program contributes meaningfully to strengthening the climate finance ecosystem.
This opportunity is especially suited for professionals from the private or public sectors with strong finance experience who may not yet have worked in climate or nonprofit contexts. It is also open to those currently in the nonprofit sector seeking to specialize in climate finance.
