Founded in 1909, it is the oldest division of the global Chartered Governance Institute. CGISA provides internationally recognised qualifications and supports its members through technical resources, training, and professional development. Committed to promoting ethical and effective governance, the institute plays an active role in shaping governance standards across the region, including contributions to frameworks like the King Reports.

About the Job

CGISA seeks a Technical Manager to support governance excellence through research, publications, and governance guidance. This role involves drafting technical newsletters, best practice guides, and governance submissions, as well as offering support to members on queries. Ideal candidates will possess strong communication skills, governance expertise, and a proactive, detail-oriented approach to managing multiple technical and advisory functions within a dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop monthly technical newsletters containing relevant media articles.

  • Provide weekly technical information and guidance to members.

  • Enhance the thought leadership function of the Institute through publications

  • Write articles for boardroom, eZine and the media. 

  • Produce best practice guides.  

  • Provide advice to various board committees.

  • Monitor corporate governance-related news through the media. 

  • Respond to technical enquiries from members. 

  • Keeping abreast of developments in the corporate governance field in order to keep the Institute informed.

  • Manage member discipline in conjunction with the Institute’s disciplinary committees.

  • Draft submissions on legislation and corporate governance matters to regulatory bodies.

  • Draft contracts and committee terms of reference.

  • Monitor and manage trademarks, domains and IP.

  • Co-ordinate the production of the integrated report.

  • Represent the Institute on regulatory bodies.

  • Provide legal support to the Institute

Requirements

Qualifications & Experience

  • A qualification such as an LLB, B Com, MBA, or other relevant qualification.

  • A background in corporate governance or company secretaryship would be advantageous

Skills and attributes

  • Computer literate.

  • Good knowledge of the King IV/V Report and the Companies Act.

  • Ability to build and maintain relations with internal and external clients.

  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal. 

  • Ability to work with detail, accuracy and on multiple tasks in a pressurised environment. 

  • Analytical and logical, good project management and organisational skills. 

  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.

  • Excellent comprehension skills.

  • Ability to communicate at all levels with tact and diplomacy.
