MAMAS Alliance is part of Kinderfonds MAMAS—a reputable Dutch NGO founded 25 years ago at the personal request of Nelson Mandela. Kinderfonds MAMAS funds 34 grassroots NGOs across South Africa, each dedicated to empowering vulnerable children, youth, and families to reach their full potential. These organizations support children throughout their journey, from birth to their first job. MAMAS Alliance serves as the network through which these NGOs share knowledge, initiate programs, and, importantly, raise additional funds from South African corporates

About the Job

The Project Manager: Boys Program will be responsible for coordinating and managing the process of the Boys program: a structured program for boys, designed by the MAMAS partner NGOs, based on best practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and execute activities and programs that serve the purpose and mission of the Boys program, including project visits and reporting.

  • In close collaboration with the task team, you make sure that the program design of the best practice boys programs align with the structured boys program design of the Dutch donor.

  • Ensure baseline, monitoring, and impact measurement of the program.

  • Manage and strengthen relationships with the local NGOs and their staff related to Boys Program.

  • Organize training activities and contribute to program development related to Boys Program.

  • Monitor and ensure budgets are adhered to in order to achieve the goals of the Boys program.

  • Monitor, evaluate, compile reports, and gather necessary documents for internal and external reporting purposes.

  • You provide the team in SA and in Netherlands with information, updates, advice and vision regarding the boys program, timely and proactively.

  • When necessary you also assist with or take responsibility for other MAMAS Academy programs, together with the team.

  • Acknowledge that it is in the spirit and DNA of MAMAS to approach and treat partners within the MAMAS Alliance professionally, fairly, and with the highest level of respect and transparency, while considering these NGOs/projects as independent and equal partners.

  • The PM will always consider, take into account and practise the most efficient and cost-effective way of fulfilling these tasks and will execute all the above-mentioned transparently and accurately and in close coordination with MAMAS’ management in theNetherlands.

  • The PM is an employee of Mamas Alliance and will not be working as an agent or representative.

  • The PM will advise Kinderfonds MAMAS and MAMAS Alliance’ management on all relevant issues proactively and on request.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Community Development, Social Sciences, or a related field.

  • 5-8 years’ experience in social development or the NGO sector.

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a diverse team environment.

  • Experience in developing and facilitating training/workshops.

  • Strong program management skills, with attention to detail in budgeting and reporting.

  • Fluent in English, with excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Preferably Male candidates

  • Proficient in Google Workspace/MS Office, particularly spreadsheets.

  • Driver’s license (Code 08) and access to a vehicle.

  • Willingness to travel within South Africa for site visits, including occasional Saturdays.

  • A computer literacy test will be part of the selection process
