About the Job

The ideal candidate will oversee initial project implementation for the Just Transition Centre in Soweto. The successful incumbent will be responsible for liaising with center management, solar installation partners as well as networking with local stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Overseeing initial and project implementation 

  • Liaising with center management 

  • Liaising with solar installation partners 

  • Overseeing the startup process and setting up of virtual history of electrification of the center  

  • Networking with local stakeholders including local government leadership and municipality including organizing meetings for feedback and progress of the project 

  • Supervising and working with local organizers

  • Arranging monthly educational programs

  • Attending project management meetings

  • Compiling and writing monthly progress update reports

  • Engaging and working with local organisations to ensure they understand the centre and how they can use it

  • Promoting just transition in different platforms when applicable

Requirements

  • Climate Change and Sustainable Development knowledge

  • Project Management training 

  • Activism an advantage 

  • 2-3 years related experience

  • Must reside within proximity of Soweto, Eldorado Park or Riverlea for accessibility and impromptu activities

  • Knowledge and understanding of community-based organisations
