The Project codeX Foundation is a training organisation with a dual vision: to provide skills to address youth unemployment, and to increase the talent pool that the software industry can draw from.

The Project codeX Foundation focuses on reaching groups who are under-represented in tech, and equip them with the agile software development skills needed to build a sustainable career in tech.

About the Job

The part-time Fundraising and Donor Coordinator will develop and manage the fundraising and sustainability strategy of the codeX Foundation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinating codeX Foundation’s fundraising and donor-related activities, including donor liaison, in close cooperation with the Executive Team

  • Ensuring that department meets its fundraising targets

  • Developing and maintainingthe codeX Foundation’s donor database;

  • Developing and initiating strategies to ensure donor retention

  • Drafting and managing manage the submission of, funding proposals;

  • Providing advice on different donor reporting and governance requirements

  • Providing support for meetings with donors, such as documentation, notes, follow up

  • Legal, financial and reporting aspects of donor contract management;

  • Assisting staff in ensuring compliance with funding agreements;

  • Managing the preparation and timely submission of progress and project reports to donors;

  • Monitoring and evaluating the outcomes of codeX Foundation fundraising activities

Requirements

  • Three to five years’ experience in fundraising and drafting of funding proposals

  • Proven fundraising track record

  • Proven track record in working effectively with a diverse range of donors, i.e., corporate, philanthropy, independent trusts, global institutions, public sector

  • Knowledge and experience of managing donor databases

  • Own network of national or international donors is an advantage

  • Ability to work in a collaborative way: provide options and decide collaboratively

  • Ability to multitask and prioritise multiple activities

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact in a professional manner

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English

  • Fluency in another South African language is an advantage.

  • High degree of computer and financial literacy

  • Strong administrative skills

  • Strong presentation skills are an advantage
