We seek to support people living in under-resourced communities in South Africa, by providing resources, facilitating capacity-building and horizontal learning exchanges, and advocating towards systemic change. The Kolisi Foundation’s mission is shaped around the following three focus areas: Food Security, Gender-Based Violence, and Education and Sports Development.

About the Job

The Brand and Communications Manager reports to the Strategic Partnerships Manager and is responsible for conceptualizing, developing and implementing an integrated marketing and communications strategy, clearly communicating the mission and activities of the Kolisi Foundation and increasing the Foundation’s visibility and impact. The B&C Manager works with media partners and contractors, including graphic designers, videography and editing teams, photographers, and content developers. They are also the brand guardian and responsible for all public relations.

Key Responsibilities

1. Marketing and Communications

  • With the Operations and Partnerships Managers, create the annual marketing and communications plan and budget.

  • Manage and implement the annual marketing and communications plan/budget.

  • Develop, manage and implement marketing and communications strategies, (including digital strategy, newsletter, partner updates etc) for programmes, projects, and partnerships, collaborating closely with the Strategic Programme Manager.

  • Manage the Kolisi Foundation’s growing Media Team, including external consultants/contractors: graphic design, script-writing, content editing, production, videography and audio teams.

  • Manage all marketing materials, website updates, and social media presence on behalf of the Foundation.

  • Create compelling content, working collaboratively with team and consultants (e.g. videographers, photographers, content developer, research assistants).

  • Implement community engagement strategies to engage with a broad range of audience members and sustain a meaningful connection.

  • Ensure that we are responding to and providing thought leadership on relevant topics in response to appropriate news articles and content.

  • Manage various outsourced marketing data analysis projects, including SEO, SEM, analytical web tools, etc.


2. Public Relations:

  • Arrange for media coverage of important actions and events affecting the Kolisi Foundation.

  • Proactively generate ways to advance the Kolisi Foundation brand in industry publications, digital media, speaking opportunities, conference participation and other forms of advertising.

  • Create or develop Foundation publicity and promotional material including press releases and press kits.


3. Brand Management

  • Act as brand guardian from production stages through to final product delivery to ensure all creative outputs are developed in line with the Kolisi Foundation brand guidelines.

  • Develop the Kolisi Foundation brand guidelines, digital voice and templates for all events, projects and programmes.

  • Develop branded materials as needed: PowerPoint Template, proposals, brochures, branding materials such as pull-up banners and other supporting materials.

  • Be the last point of contact with the Kolisi Foundation deliverables before they are published/distributed ensuring all formatting, aesthetics and content are in‐line with brand standards and expectations.

Requirements

  • BA/MA/BCom degree in Marketing, Advertising, Communications or a related discipline.

  • Proven working experience in Marketing and Communications.

  • Proven working experience in public relations.

  • Proven track record designing and executing successful marketing, communications, and public relations campaigns at both a local and national level.

  • Advanced design knowledge/experience (Adobe InDesign and Adobe Illustrator).

  • Strong relationships with both local and national business and industry media outlets.

  • Experience in acting as a company spokesperson; comfortable and skilled in both broadcast and print media interviews (preferred)

  • Solid experience with social media channels (LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and Twitter) including blogs (Wordpress).

  • Event planning experience (preferred).

  • Working knowledge of design and implementation software necessary for the job function (PPTX, Prezi, Word, PDF, MailChimp, Google Analytics incl SEO and SEM, etc).

  • Strong leadership and strategic skills.

  • Proven experience overseeing, managing and implementing of integrated marketing campaigns from incubation to execution.

  • An understanding of the non-profit sector.
